 Volunteer Opportunities for Individuals

• Clerical/Office Assistance
  A variety of clerical and office duties are always available for volunteers to help with, and is usually where most assistance is needed.  This may include filing, data input, addressing and/or stuffing envelopes, organizing clothing closet and food pantry, etc.
  
• Special Events/Holiday Events/Fundraisers
  A variety of volunteer activities are needed both before and during the functions to ensure a successful event. Invitation mailings, decorations, registration and the staffing of auction tables are just some of the possible assignments. There are also many volunteer opportunities for involvement during the holidays.

  Volunteer Opportunities for Groups
   (Churches, Schools, Agencies and Civic Organizations)

• Care Packs for Kids
  Most children coming into foster care have nothing with them but the clothes on their backs when they get here. Care Packs for Kids allows agencies to use their time and resources to put together back packs and/or duffle bags filled with necessity items for the children. Care Packs for Kids benefits children from ages birth to 18, as well as children leaving foster care and going on to college.
  
• Life Books
  These books are a necessity for each child being removed from their home and placed in foster care. Life Books serve as a scrap book that allows the children to retain memories of their lives with their foster parents, foster siblings, etc. The books are binders that are covered with a childlike material and the pages are then copied and inserted for the children to take and fill in the blanks as they go. There may also be a need for volunteers to go out and take photographs to help fill in some of the parts that the kids have missed, i.e. prior foster homes, pets, schools, etc.
  
• Special Events
  There are many special events that take place throughout the year that requires the recruitment of large number of volunteers. Volunteering to work a special event may suit those looking for a "one time - short term" volunteer project. Opportunities for volunteers working special events could include: handing out fliers, set-up, registration, serving, booths, clean up of events, mailings.
  
• Holiday Donation Drives
  The children of Lena Pope Home, Inc. have many needs during the holidays. Some of the ways organizations can help to ensure a joyous season would be: provide a Thanksgiving dinner, plan a special holiday event (Easter egg hunt, 4th of July picnic). You may wish to sponsor a holiday donation drive or help in preparing and delivery of food and care baskets, or to collect items from the list below to benefit the children of Lena Pope Home, Inc.
