Family Matters Therapists

Paige Chambers is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Family Matters Counseling and works out of the Fort Worth location. Ms. Chambers primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well. She specializes in working with clients ages eleven and older. Ms. Chambers has been with Lena Pope Home since 2000 and it is her goal to help families achieve the goals they set for themselves in counseling.

Ms. Chambers is originally from central Texas, and has lived in the DFW area since 1997. Prior to moving here, she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She has also received her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her prior work experience includes employment at a residential treatment center, management of an after school program for Girls Inc. of Tarrant County, work with children in foster care, and work with families involved with the juvenile justice system. In her free time, Ms. Chambers enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. She also enjoys spending time with friends and cooking.

Michael Flores has been with Lena Pope Home for six years. He has worked in our elementary alternative school as a behavior interventionist and as the lead behavior interventionist. He is also a Family Specialist with the Juvenile Drug Court and a trained Functional Family Therapist. Michael joined the Family Matters Counseling team this year and strives to help clients see themselves as capable and extraordinary human beings. Michael practices Solution Focused Therapy.

Mr. Flores is a native of Fort Worth, and has attended the University of North Texas for his undergraduate degree and Texas Wesleyan University for his master’s degree. He is an adjunct professor at TCC, and in his free time he enjoys spending time with family, playing the guitar, and playing video games.

Holly Garrett, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist, has been with Lena Pope Home since 1998. She has directed foster care services in the past and currently practices with Family Matters Counseling. Ms. Garrett is the facilitator of the Seeking Safety Women’s Group and strives to help families strengthen their relationships.

Ms Garrett was born right here in Fort Worth, Texas and has lived here all of her life. She obtained a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington and has worked in the Arlington/Fort Worth area for over 25 years with various social service agencies. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and gardening.

Shana Hazzard, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, has been with Lena Pope Home since 2000. She has had experience working with residential care, foster care, and now is a practicing therapist with Family Matters Counseling. It is Ms. Hazzard’s  goal to help families develop and maintain healthy, beneficial relationships. She provides play therapy and works with families and with individuals of all ages.

Ms. Hazzard was born in Texas and lived here for several years before moving to New Jersey, Kansas City, and then Atlanta. She returned to Texas for graduate school in 1997. She received her Bachelor Degree from Harding University, and then went on to receive a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her prior work experience has included employment with foster care agencies and with Girls, Inc. of Tarrant County, and facilitating grief support groups at The Warm Place. In her free time, Ms. Hazzard enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. They enjoy taking family vacations, reading, and going to the movies.

Stacey Lewis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Lena Pope Home. She is a team leader and also a therapist providing outpatient substance abuse treatment, and she has been with Lena Pope Home for 6 years. It is Ms. Lewis’ hope and mission to help children and families to learn or improve skills to cope with problems that life throws our way.

Ms. Lewis is originally from Missouri and has lived in Texas for eight years. She received her undergraduate degree from Central Missouri State University and went on to receive her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Ms. Lewis has been working with children and families since 1995. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her children, playing sports or swimming. She loves to travel and enjoys photography and scrapbooking.

Elise Mederos is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Family Matters Counseling and works out of the Weatherford office. She has been with Lena Pope Home since 2007, providing Functional Family Therapy for adolescents on probation and providing individual and family counseling in the office. It is her personal goal to help families and individuals cope with life and find positivity in everyday experiences and relationships.

Ms. Mederos, who is originally from Virginia, has lived in Texas for the past ten years and in Fort Worth for the past five years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from James Madison University in 2001, and her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University in 2003. She has experience counseling couples, families, children, individuals, and those dealing with substance abuse. In her free time, Ms. Mederos enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and watching movies.

Cathy Nixon is a practicing therapist with Family Matters Counseling at the Arlington location of Lena Pope Home. She has worked with LPH since 2002 and strives to provide individuals and families with skills for personal and relational growth. She specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, communication skills, anger management, and problem solving skills. Ms. Nixon facilitates the Adult Anger Management group at LPH.

Ms. Nixon is a native Texan, born and raised in Dallas. She has been a resident of Arlington for over 28 years and received her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. She has also completed two years of curriculum at the Art Therapy Institute. Prior to this, her work experience included experience in design, corporate sales, and account management in the graphics arts field. In her free time, she enjoys time with her family, travel, and photography.

Wayne Vaughn has been with Lena Pope Home since 2007.  He is the program supervisor and a practicing therapist with Family Matters Counseling. Mr. Vaughn works out of the Granbury and Fort Worth offices of Lena Pope Home.  It is his goal to help families develop and maintain healthy, beneficial relationships.

Mr. Vaughn is a native Texan and has been a resident of Fort Worth since grade school. He grew up in North Richland Hills and now lives in Granbury. Mr. Vaughn received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Howard Payne University, and then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to receive a Master of Arts in both Christian Education and Marriage and Family Counseling. Most recently he has completed his MBA at Texas Christian University. Mr. Vaughn is also a member of the Texas Air National Guard, where he has served for 19 years.  He enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, is active in his local church and enjoys playing golf, stating that it “lets me practice my own anger management.”

Nevart Willborn is a Licensed Professional Counselor and she works out of the Hurst and Arlington locations of Lena Pope Home. She has been with Lena Pope Home since December of 2009, and it is her goal to provide encouragement and support to individuals and families. She strives to help them explore decisions, hopes, and experiences in a safe environment so that they can work through their struggles and concerns.

Ms. Willborn grew up in Jerusalem and moved to Texas in 2003 to attend Texas Christian University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She then received a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of North Texas. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and playing with their two dogs. She enjoys relaxing at home and spending time with family and friends.

Jamie Diaz has been with Lena Pope Home since 2008.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor who spent several years providing Functional Family Therapy to youth and families.  She works primarily out of our Ft. Worth office.  Jamie is passionate about understanding human development and social systems and using this to help improve the counseling experience for her clients.

She was born in Yorktown, Virginia and lived there until 1998 when she moved to West Palm Beach, Florida to attend college.  There she worked as a preschool teacher at Palm Beach School for Autism during her master’s program.  It was during this time she discovered her passion for understanding child development and family systems theory of counseling.  In 2007 she moved to Fort Worth with her husband.  Jamie likes to spend free time enjoying the company of family and friends, going to the movies, running races, and traveling.
