Living Wax Museum & 3rd Annual Literacy Day
Chapel Hill Museum’s first annual Living Wax Museum was held on October 28th throughout the school building. Third and fourth-graders worked diligently on researching a famous historical figure, creating an exhibit board, and dressing up to portray the selected individual as a living statue. As “museum guests” visited, each “statue” would come to life and give a 2 minute speech on their historical figure and how his or her life affected history. The museum was extremely successful; we had a great turnout of families and community members. The staff and students are already looking forward to planning next year’s event!
To continue the historical theme that day, Kindergarten through 2nd Grade shared in the historic, cultural and social experiences by participating in Chapel Hill Academy’s 3rd Annual Literacy Day. Students had an exciting and fun Literacy Day that included various reading activities. Teachers were transformed into historical characters and read to all of the classes in their grade level while providing them with a fun reading activity. Students also had the opportunity to “Drop Everything And Read”. CHA teachers were in action as they performed a Reader’s Theater; the students loved seeing their teacher’s performance. We want to give a big thanks to all our parents that served as guest readers. Students learned that literacy is important, “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader”!
