Mrs. Suson graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos with a Bachelor of Science degree. This is Mrs. Suson's fourth year teaching Pre-K and second year at Chapel Hill Academy. “I love teaching Pre-K and using my creativity in the classroom” she states. She focuses on preparing the students for Kindergarten through daily lessons and regularly evaluates each student for any needs. “Since a young child I have always wanted to be a teacher” she adds which is clearly noted in her determination to help her students succeed. During the past year Mrs. Suson added a new family member, a son named Slate. She takes great pride in the success of her students and in helping to lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning. 

Carol L. Nickelson

Mrs. Nickelson graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.  After graduating, she spent time as a substitute teacher in the Arlington School District.  She is certified in EC-4th and ESL.  Mrs. Nickelson is a first year teacher at Chapel Hill Academy and provides a learning environment for her students through structure and nurturing. She has one grown daughter who is also a teacher and two granddaughters whom she adores.  Her favorite pasttime is playing with "her girls", and she also enjoys reading, gardening, and travel.  

  

Pre-K Instructional Assistants

Ann Ellis

Ms. Ellis holds an interdisciplinary degree in Social Work, Sociology, and Psychology with a specialization in Communications and Recreation from the University of North Texas, and has an Alternative Certification in Elementary Education. Ms. Ellis has been a behavior management specialist for over 25 years.  She states, "It is my desire to nurture and empower children to be excited about learning and developing self-discipline as they grow more self-confident in the process".  She adds, "It is an honor to be a part of the Chapel Hill Academy family where children are loved and feel at home."  In addition to serving as an Instructional Assistant, Ms. Ellis is a childcare worker in the Clayton After-School Program at CHA.  This is Ms. Ellis' second year at Chapel Hill Academy.   

 

Norma Salazar

Mrs. Salazar worked with the City of Dallas for over thirty years.  After retiring, she realized that she wanted to pursue a second career working with children.  She reports, "I'm here to work with children in a team environment where my past experience in community relations will enhance and support student excellence".  This is Mrs. Salazar's first year at Chapel Hill Academy.  Mrs. Salazar is a grandmother of 12 and loves spending time with both her grandchildren and the students at CHA.
