Mandy Armstrong

Mrs. Armstrong has always had a desire to play a significant role in the lives of children.  She graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  She is certified EC-4th and ESL.  This is her second year teaching Kindergarten at Chapel Hill Academy.  Prior to teaching Kindergarten, she spent three years teaching First grade in both Lewisville and Arlington ISD.

 

Hazel Banfield

Mrs. Banfield graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas Woman's University and is certified EC-4th and ESL.  Mrs. Banfield was the 2009-10 Teacher of the Year. She reports that she is "thrilled to be a part of the amazing Chapel Hill Academy family."  This is Mrs. Banfield's second year to teach Kindergarten. She takes pleasure in watching her students grow and learn each day. "Science, reading and of course, singing together are some of our favorite things to do in class." Her favorite pastimes include reading, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

 

Kathryn Simmons

Mrs. Simmons graduated from Baylor University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, with a specialization in Early Childhood Education.  She is certified in Special Education EC -12th, Generalist EC-4, and ESL 1st-6th.  This is her seventh year as a teacher, having taught Kindergarten, First, and Second grades.  She taught 4 years in Waco ISD, and 1 year in Fort Worth ISD before coming to Chapel Hill Academy.  She is currently the grade level chair for Kindergarten at CHA and promotes learning through structured and organized learning. 

 

Ashley Smith

Ms. Smith graduated from Colorado Christian University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She is certified in EC-4th, ESL, and Special Education EC-12th. This is her second year teaching at Chapel Hill Academy. Ms. Smith has many years of experience in the classroom environment and enjoys the students enthusiam for learning. She is very creative and enjoys working closely with her students to ensure academic success.

 

Susan A. Hickman

Mrs. Hickman has 28 years of experience in Early Childhood Education.  She received her undergraduate degree and Masters of Science in Speech Pathology from Texas Christian University.  She is certified in EC-6th, Special Education EC-12th, and Speech Therapy EC-12th.  Mrs. Hickman first began her career in education as a Speech Pathologist/ Pre K teacher for Birdville ISD.  She also owned and operated a Nationally Accredited Child Care Center and Private Kindergarten for over 20 years.  Mrs. Hickman loves teaching Kindergarten because the children have such a love for learning and they show such amazing growth during the school year. 

 

Edith Olmos

Mrs. Olmos has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from The University of Texas at Arlington. This is her second year at Chapel Hill Academy. She served as an Instructional Assistant for Pre-K last year and is currently an Instructional Assistant for Kindergarten. Mrs. Olmos started volunteering with children at a young age in her church through Sunday school and the United Community Centers' after school daycare.  She completed her internship with Catholic Charities through the CARE program gaining experience in working with families and their children.  Mrs. Olmos frequently substitutes and is active in co-teaching students during instructional time in class.  Mrs. Olmos created the CHA website you are currently viewing.

 

Hailey B. Womack

Ms.Womack came to Chapel Hill Academy in January 2009 as a volunteer and substitute teacher. She enjoyed working with the children so much that she applied for an Instructional Assistants position for the 2009-2010 school year and currently serves as a Kindergarten Instructional Assistant. Ms. Womack has done volunteer work with children at her church and in the medical field in hopes of  having a positive impact on children and families. Ms. Womack's long term goal is to become a physician and help save lives all over the world.
